PRESS RELEASE: District 3 State Highway crews remain deployed following winter weather system
The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren Counties

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2026) – Snow & ice operations across the entire Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area continue. A winter storm system moved through the area Saturday into Sunday, bringing several inches of snow. Freezing rain fell overnight, creating even more challenging conditions. Crews worked all day Saturday and overnight Sunday. Most roadways remain snow-covered, with icy conditions forming. Travel should be avoided due to hazardous road conditions.
Reports of power outages, downed powerlines and downed trees in each county in the District 3 area. Crews remain focused on Priority A routes, which consist mainly of interstates, expressways and U.S. routes. Some progress is being made on some of these routes, but conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day into tonight.
Road graders have been deployed in multiple counties to help with snow & ice operations. Graders can help remove snow and ice that has bonded to pavement.
Please do not call 911 or law enforcement offices to find out information about road conditions. For road conditions, please visit GoKY.ky.gov.
