Preparing your kids to go back to school
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- With school just weeks away, doctors all over the U.S. are encouraging parents to prepare their children.
Kentucky and Indiana school systems require exams for certain ages. Whether you’re getting your child ready by getting them vaccinated with the proper shots or by starting a routine, taking any steps to prepare your child can make a major difference in their school experience.
Dr. Kelly Kries, pediatric physician at Norton Children’s Medical Group, shares the effects of preparing your child for school.
She says, “When school starts, it’s a big transition and a lot of stress for the child, and getting them into a routine before starting school just takes one stress off of their plate.”
Doctors at Norton’s Children’s Hospital tell us Kentucky is well below the national average in childhood vaccination rates, but consistency and annual exams can all help identify potential health issues.
