Potter Gray Elementary School gears up for the Solar Eclipse

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- People across South Central Kentucky are gearing up for the solar eclipse on April 8th.

Bowling Green Independent Schools is no different. They have ordered more than 5,000 pairs of glasses for their students. Potter Gray Principal, Keith Brown tells us students will have the option of watching the eclipse outside with glasses or watching it inside on a t-v screen.

Either way, staff are excited that students are able to witness a historic moment without even having to leave school property.

He says, “To be able to teach them what is going on, why it’s happening, what’s happening with our Earth, our solar system, our moon, why these things happen. It’s a good opportunity for us to be able to share that information with them.”

He also shares, the school day will run as normal, but they will need all parents to be patient because dismissal might take 10 minutes longer than normal.
