Portland man charged with vehicular homicide following wreck in Simpson Co.
FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Portland, Tennessee man is facing multiple charges in relation to a fatal crash in Simpson County.
According to court records, Alberto Sebastian Andres, 24, of Portland is charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first offense and possess open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle.
KSP Post 3 interim public affairs officer Allen Shirley confirmed Andres was arrested on an indictment warrant in reference to a fatal collision that occurred on Oct. 13.
News 40 previously reported on the crash, which resulted in the death of a passenger in Andres’ truck, Bartolo Freciso, 24, of Portland, Tennessee.
Andres’ vehicle left the travel portion of Interstate 65 southbound and entered the outside shoulder, troopers say, before he collided with the back of a commercial tractor-trailer. Frecisco was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office.
The operator of the tractor-trailer did not sustain injuries.
Andres’ indictment warrant was issued on Oct. 16 on the above charges.
He was booked on Oct. 23 and remains at the Simpson County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
