UPDATE: 1 dead after collision on Scottsville Road in Barren County
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – One person has died after a crash Sunday morning in Barren County.
According to a release by the Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to the 7000 block of Scottsville Road around 10:30 a.m. for a fatal collision.
Troopers say they learned that a white 2000 GMC Sierra driven by Charles Vittitoe, 47, of Scottsville was traveling northbound on Scottsville Road.
According to officials, Vittitoe swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing his vehicle to cross the center line into the path of a black 2009 GMC Sierra driven by Danny Webb, 76, of Cave City that was traveling southbound on Scottsville Road. Both vehicles reportedly collided.
Webb was pronounced dead by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. Vittitoe was transported to TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, where he was later transferred to Skyline Medical Center for serious injuries.
Sharon Webb, 71, of Cave City, a passenger in the black 2009 GMC Sierra, was transported by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to TJ Samson Community Hospital for unknown injuries.
KSP was assisted on scene by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, and Multiple Barren County Fire Departments.
The investigation remains ongoing.
