Police: Woman on the run after evading police in mail truck

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Police in Kentucky are searching for a woman who they say escaped police custody by slipping out of her handcuffs and stealing a mail truck. Lexington police are looking for 23-year-old Brandi Spears, who evaded authorities Monday while at a hospital. Police say Spears, who was detained at a Sam’s Club for outstanding warrants, had said she needed to go to the hospital after her arrest. Police say Spears then escaped and stole a University of Kentucky mail truck, driving it back to her vehicle at the Sam Club’s parking lot. Spears has been charged with escaping police and theft of the mail truck.
