Police say car seats can provide safety during storms
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s not something everyone might think of, but it’s a good tip from law enforcement during severe weather.
News 40 spoke to Captain Ashley Jones with the Glasgow Police Department about what you can do to keep your family safer in the case of a weather event. Jones said car seats are a good way to keep your child safe during a tornado.
The officer told us that once you get to your safe space, buckle your child in to the seat as if you were driving your car.
Car seats are meant to protect against high-speed impacts. Jones said its very possible a car seat could save your child from injuries due to debris. She said if you can find a way to protect their head, even better.
