Police release name of Sunday’s shooting victim

UPDATE: AN EARLIER VERSION OF THIS STORY SAID THE SHOOTING OCCURRED ON HIGHLAND WAY. HOWEVER, POLICE LATER LEARNED THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green police are investigating a Sunday shooting in which the victim showed up at a home in the 1700 block of Highland Way just before 1 p.m.

Shedrick Johnson, 60, was shot multiple times and flown by medical helicopter to a Nashville, Tenn. trauma center, Bowling Green Police Department spokesman Ronnie Ward said. Police believe the shooting occurred near Patrick Way which is close to Highland Way.

No arrests had been made as of 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Statements made by witnesses to police changed Sunday during the investigation which is why there was initial confusion about where the shooting took place.

“This area is heavily populated. There are rental complexes there. We have been able to talk to some people there that heard what was going on. Right now we have to compile there statements and any video we find there along with all the witness statements to try to piece together the timeline,” said Ward.
