Police capture man accused of robbing Franklin business

A home video surveillance system foiled the getaway of an accused robber.

Franklin police were called to Papa Johns, 828 North Main Street in Franklin Thursday afternoon on an armed robbery report.

A white man wearing a burgundy hoodie, a knit cap over his face and black Under Armour pants came into the store, kept his hand on the grip of a gun that was tucked into his waistband and demanded money from the safe, according to a release from Franklin Police Department.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber left the business. A home along the robber’s route, captured imagery of the vehicle used during the incident, according to the release.

Police found the vehicle at 109 Edgewood where they took Robert Creek, 20, of Franklin, into custody.

Police found the knit cap under a bush and the burgundy hoodie in a barn in Simpson County. Police recovered the stolen money and found the firearm believed to be used the robbery. It was a BB gun, according to the release.

Creek was charged with first-degree robbery and lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center. He was being held Friday morning without bond.
