Police: Bowling Green man breaks window out of police cruiser, escapes from custody

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is accused of kicking the window out of a police cruiser while on the way to jail Wednesday.

Officers were called to Scottie Drive on a domestic complaint where they said Phillip Massey had been in a fight with a woman, according to a release from the Glasgow Police Department. Officers noticed he has injuries on his hands and took him a local hospital for treatment.

After receiving treatment, while on his way to the Barren County Detention Center, police said Massey broke out the rear window of the cruiser and ran off before being caught. He is accused of fighting a police officer and taking her Taser.

Both Massey and Officer Jewelie Robinson were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Massey, 23, was charged with public intoxication, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree escape, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening and disarming a police officer.

He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
