Plum Springs ex-Mayor indicted on fraud charges
PLUM SPRING, Ky. – Former mayor of Plum Springs Shedrick Johnson, 45, of Bowling Green has pleaded guilty to devising a wire fraud scheme.
This began in March of 2020 and continued through November of 2022. He was skimming funds from a road fund into his personal bank account.
News 40 reached out to an official of Plum Springs to expand on the incident.
Public outreach and communication commissioner William Compton says that the city is working to recover but that the public won’t be on the hook.
“So, the amount of money that we uncovered that was taken was a little bit over $38,100. The exact amount is on the plea deal agreement. He is, according to the plea deal, supposed to pay those funds back to the city of Plum Springs, thankfully,” Compton said.
