Planting pinwheels for Child Abuse Awareness Month
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kicking off Child Abuse Prevention Month and spreading awareness about the topic is crucial to keep kids safe.
In Kentucky, the child abuse rate rises to the fourth highest in the country, and Norton Children’s Hospital planted pinwheel and signs that encourage people to check on parents because abuse can come in many forms.
Dr. Kelly Kries, a Norton Children’s Medical Group pediatrician, shares what’s most important when it comes to child abuse, and what is a common cause.
She says, “What’s so important is that the community kind of be on the lookout, so, as a pediatrician, if you have questions, we, of course, are here to answer your answer your questions like, in some of the situations, what what support is available in our community, what resources are available in our community.”
