Pilot, former Lexington meteorologist killed in helicopter crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CNN) — A helicopter pilot and former Lexington meteorologist died following a helicopter crash Tuesday.

The men have been identified as meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag. Myers was working for a local television station in North Carolina.

The crash happened when their helicopter took a nose dive into a highway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Drivers say they saw the helicopter dropping from the sky before it reached the ground moments later.

No civilians on the ground were injured.

The cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation.
