BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society received a major donation Friday.
The Petco Foundation awarded the shelter with a grant for a quarter million dollars.
It’s the largest grant the shelter has ever received.
The check presentation took place Friday afternoon at the shelter and was a surprise to the majority of the staff and volunteers.
The Petco Foundation also teamed up with BOBS from Skechers to deliver staff members new shoes.
Shelter director Lorri Hare said the money will be utilized over the next four years for operating costs.
“It made me really happy to see all the tears in that room because I knew everyone would be just as excited as I was,” said Hare.
This year, the Petco Foundation is giving away more than $10 million to animal welfare organizations across the country.
