Penguin Plunge to take place March 2 in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Organizers released details Monday on the annual Penguin Plunge event in Bowling Green.

A news conference was held Monday morning at Bluegrass Cellular on Campbell Lane to discuss the upcoming event.

The Penguin Plunge features individuals and teams jumping into a freezing outdoor pool.

All the money raised benefits Junior Achievement, an organization that teaches area students the importance of financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.

This year’s event will be held outside the Sloane Convention Center on March 2 from 10:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

The President of Junior Achievement, Drew Martin, says the organization hopes to raise more than $17,000 this year.

“It really makes us as an organization feel good and me as the leader feel good,” said Martin. “Hopefully it inspires and prepares more individuals to jump, or more individuals to get in the classroom and volunteer for Junior Achievement.”
