PAWSH, a local animal hospital, opens its doors to meet increasing demand for care

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- There’s a new addition to the south-central Kentucky community that’s bringing comfort, care and connection to both pets and their owners.

PAWSH, a locally owned animal hospital, has opened its doors with a mission to serve every animal in need. Offering dental care, pet surgeries and vaccinations, PAWSH ensures that animals receive the same quality of medical treatment as humans.

Vet assistant Sarah Walkup says, “Pets to me are like people. So you want to care about your pet like it’s your child.”

With Kentucky’s population continuing to grow, so does the number of furry companions needing care. There’s an increasing need of medical resources for our furry friends.

Dr. Adrienne Price, owner and veterinarian, says the demand became especially evident during the pandemic.

“COVID exploded the pet population,” she says.  “It was so hard to get into a regular veterinarian. We needed to offer those services.”

PAWSH was created in response to that need, giving families in the region a dependable place for their pets’ health. But the services go beyond animal care—they provide peace of mind for pet owners.

“It’s really rewarding to see an owner leave with more knowledge of their pet’s health,” said Alison Leyva, a client service representative.

That knowledge helps owners make informed decisions and feel empowered in their pet’s wellness journey. The staff at PAWSH aims to build lasting relationships through trust and communication.

“We want to build a community within the clients we serve,” Dr. Price added. By putting both pets and people first, PAWSH is quickly becoming a vital part of the region’s growing support network.

PAWSH is looking for a volunteers and groomers. If you are interested in learning more, they are having an open house June 14. The information is on their website.
