Parker-Bennett Elementary hosts Balloons over PBC Parade
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Thanksgiving Day Parade does not happen until Thursday, but some students at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School participated in a celebration of their own Monday afternoon.
Kindergarteners at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary are learning in a hands-on way, thanks to a unique classroom activity. The school held its second annual parade, where students showcased balloons they designed and created themselves.
While the students had fun, the activity wasn’t all about the enjoyment, as it dove into lessons on fine motor skills, STEM concepts and vocabulary.
“We do it for not only just from fine motor control, some stem activity, but we also do it into, some practicing on editing. What kind of drafts are, so we kind of make it educational as well, but it’s also a very fun way for them to be able to do hands on learning.” PBC Kindergarten teacher Erin Henry said. “They should just really be proud to be able to show off their whole work for the school.”
The event allowed students to put their creativity on display, practicing important skills and showcasing their work and improvement since the beginning of the year to the rest of the school.
