Parker-Bennett-Curry holds second annual ‘Balloons Over Broadway’ Parade

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The students of Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary brought the book “Balloons Over Broadway” to life with their own Thanksgiving Parade Tuesday afternoon.

Kindergarten students at the school paraded through the halls, showing off their banners and floats that they have worked hard on preparing over the past couple of weeks.

Parker-Bennett-Curry teachers got the idea from the book “Balloons Over Broadway” by Melissa Sweet and saw other schools on social media having their own Thanksgiving parades and decided to do the same.

The parade not only helped students have fun and stay engaged during the short week but also gave some of them their first opportunity to experience a parade.

“The kids love it. They get excited. A lot of times they have never seen or been in a parade before,” said Erin Henry, a Kindergarten teacher at Parker-Bennett-Curry. “So it’s just a good way to get them excited to be here and engaged into their learning.”

This was the second annual parade at the school and was the first of many Thanksgiving parades held today at local elementary schools in Bowling Green.
