Parents arrested in Ohio County after allegedly leaving children home alone

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. – Two parents are facing charges after deputies say they left two young children home alone.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office says it charged Jessica Moralez Aquilar, 24, and Julio Caesar Velazquez Hernandez, 23, on Monday with two counts of third-degree criminal abuse and first-degree two counts of wanton endangerment.

Authorities say they responded to a residence on State Route 69 South in the community of Centertown for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, authorities say they discovered the parents had left their 3-year-old and 5-year-old children alone at the home while they went to work.

The children were removed from the home and placed into the custody of the Department of Community Based Services.

The investigation is ongoing.
