Over a dozen agencies respond to multi-acre field fire

GREEN Co., Ky.- One dozen first responding agencies were on the scene of a mass field fire in Green County Tuesday. This wind-driven field fire was in the northern part of the county near the Hudgins and Holly Grove communities. Part of Highway 566 was shut down as 14 agencies, including the Department of Forestry, battled the fire. Units were advised that multiple houses were in danger and the fire was spreading quickly due to high winds.

The Summersville Volunteer Fire Department reports that at one time, they had flames shooting higher than the houses they were trying to protect. The Kentucky Department of Forestry says that 23 acres burned in total. Firefighters were able to save all structures.

Assisting agencies include the Green County-Greensburg Fire Department, GRAB Fire, Linwood Fire, Buffalo Fire, Larue Fire, Magnolia Fire, Taylor County Fire, Green County Emergency Management, Green County Rescue and EMS, and Green County 911 Center.
