Operation Pride I-65 beautification project to begin this winter

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Former Bowling Green mayor Johnny Webb announced Wednesday that Operation Pride has raised $1.3 million in private donations to fund the $2.5 million beautification project along five interstate ramps.

As part of the BeautifI-65 project, the interstate entries into Bowling Green will include landscaping, fencing and signage, Webb said during the Bowling Green Rotary Club meeting Wednesday at the Bowling Green Country Club.

Warren County, the Bowling Green Convention & Visitors Bureau and the city of Bowling Green will be approached to pay for the $450,000 annual maintenance cost once the project is complete.

Webb founded Operation Pride that is now under the direction of Angie Alexieff. Webb is the chairman of the board. Operation Pride is an organization dedicated to the beautification of the community.

No other city along I-65 has entryways similar to those that are a part of this project, Alexieff said.
