One person injured in Barren collision

GLASGOW, Ky. – A two-vehicle crash near Mile Marker 9 on U.S. 31E in Barren County early Saturday afternoon resulted in an injury to one person.

A semi-truck and a car collided near the Haywood Store sending both vehicles onto the side of the road.

Linda Kingery, of Glasgow, was injured and airlifted from the scene to the University of Louisville Hospital.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the wreck.

Kingery was driving south in a 2013 Chrysler when she was rear ended by a 1995 Peterbilt operated by Robert Wix of Lebanon, Tenn. as Kingery was attempting to make a left turn into her driveway, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

After being struck in the rear end, Kingery’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway into a ditch line. The vehicle then crossed back across both lanes of traffic and went off the left side of the roadway striking a tree and an embankment before coming to a rest, according to the release.
Wix was not injured in the accident.
