Ohio woman dead after collision in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. – One woman is dead after a crash in Whitley County.

The Kentucky State Police says it responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision Tuesday.

Troopers say the crash took place on southbound Interstate 75 at mile marker 15 in Whitley County.

After an initial investigation, troopers say they determined a commercial vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Qafa Alfreg of Commerce, Missouri, was hit by a white 2015 Ford F-150 driven by 28-year-old Michael Waits of Lynchburg, Ohio.

Waits was transported by EMS to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was treated and released.

The passenger of the truck, 24-year-old Addison Bailey of Fayetteville, Ohio, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County coroner.
