WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Officials are continuing to ask the public’s help as they search for a helicopter after they lost contact.
According to deputy director of Glasgow/Barren County Emergency Management Marcus Thurman, they received reports of a helicopter flying in the Glasgow area yesterday before it was supposed to head to Knoxville, Tennessee.
Thurman stated the helicopter originally came from St. Louis, Missouri around noon on Saturday, Sept. 3. Officials believe the pilot was flying below radar to avoid storms, and contact was lost that evening after he was in Sparta, Illinois. Since then, the last known location is the Warren/Edmonson County line near Chalybeate after agencies attempted to ping the pilot’s phone and iPad.
Thurman further stated hunters said yesterday they had seen a helicopter flying low in the direction of Glasgow.
Edmonson County agencies, Barren County Emergency Management, civil air patrol and local pilots have done searches with no discovery.
The missing pilot’s name is David Stone, who is a military veteran described as a white male who is five feet seven inches tall, 155 pounds and clean shaven. The missing aircraft is a blue Jetexec with a tail number of N162NH.
Emergency management is asking residents to check their properties. If you locate the helicopter, notify authorities and do not tamper with anything. Officials stated you may provide aid to the missing pilot if you see him, but do not tamper with the helicopter.
