O-I Glass breaks ground on new greenfield glass plant at Kentucky Transpark
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Friday morning, city, county and state leaders gathered in the Kentucky Transpark to break ground for yet another addition to our Commonwealth’s manufacturing sector.
Manufacturing giant O-I Glass, Inc. is one of the leading global producers of Sustainable glass packaging. And today, they begin planting local roots for their new greenfield glass plant.
This multiphase investment up to $240 million will create 140 new regional jobs.
O-I Glass Chief of Stainability and Corporate Affairs Randy Burns said, “Our plants are like little communities in and of themselves. We draw our workforce from right here. And that’s a principal reason why we chose this location, because of the attention of the workforce and the availability of the workforce.”
Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman said, “Our people are the reason that these companies are picking us. They’ve seen the Team Kentucky spirit. They’ve seen us show up for each other, whether it’s the tornadoes in the West or the flooding in the East, and they’ve taken notice of that.”
O-I Glass tells us to expect its first production line in mid-2024.
