NWS: EF-1 tornadoes touched down in northern Kentucky, southern Indiana

PORT ROYAL, Ky. – Early Saturday morning tornadoes hit in both northern Kentucky and southern Indiana, the National Weather Service Louisville states.

The first tornado touched down in Underwood, Indiana in Clark County at about 4:49 a.m., with the subsequent tornado hitting Port Royal, Kentucky in Henry County at about 5:32 a.m., the NWS says.

According to preliminary reports, both tornadoes reached a rating of EF-1 with estimated peak winds of 90 miles per hour. Each tornado had a path of about a mile.

No injuries or deaths were reported as of Monday afternoon.

Clark County Emergency Management stated in a social media post that first responders received reports of trees and power lines down. Fire and highway department personnel were working Saturday to clear storm debris from the roads, while utility workers addressed a power outage that affected hundreds.
