North Jackson Elementary holds mini Highland Games for kids

GLASGOW Ky.- Thanks to a summer program, young kids had the chance to participate in their own version of the Glasgow Highland Games.

The mini Highland games were held Friday at North Jackson Elementary School in Glasgow. Students from all different local schools signed up to enjoy time with friends, in addition to getting involved in the Highland games experience.

The kids participated in various games but with a Scottish twist. Some of these included their own version of weight throwing, and the caber toss.

Front desk clerk of North Jackson Elementary Don Hargas said it was a great opportunity for the kids to get involved in the history of the Highland Games.

“I think it’s good for them because some of them may never get to go and to see what the Highland Games are all about. I think it helps them to be more inspired to come to summer camp to get involved with activities and things,” Hargas said.
