BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s time again to recognize those that have contributed to the community with their time and effort.

Volunteers in Action, a coalition of representatives from agencies and organizations that rely on volunteer service, is now accepting nominations for its 35th annual Volunteers of the Year Awards.

This year, the event is sponsored by Franklin Bank & Trust Company, WNKY News 40, American Legion Post 23, BGMU, and Drakes Creek Middle School’s Youth Services Center.

The coalition is seeking to honor those who have made a meaningful impact in our community through volunteering. Whether through dedicated service hours, exceptional leadership or inspiring others to get involved, the awards celebrate those who go above and beyond to help others.

Awards categories include the following:

• Anne Grubbs Spirit of Service Award – Presented to an individual who excels in the quality, longevity, and spirit of service to others.

• Rising Star Award – Honors an individual or team new to volunteering who is already making a significant impact.
• Young Leader Award – Recognizes an individual or team age 18 or younger who demonstrates exemplary volunteer service.

Each organization’s nominee will be recognized at the awards ceremony and will receive a certificate and commemorative memento. Award recipients in each category will receive a plaque.
