No credible threat found after lockdowns at Berea area schools, police say

BEREA, Ky. – Berea police say there is no credible threat found after reports concerning Madison Southern High School.
The Berea Police Department says at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, Madison Southern and Foley Middle School were placed on lockdown, following internal procedures.
Officers say through a coordinated effort with Madison County Schools staff, law enforcement agencies investigated the threat and found there was no active threat to the safety of students.
Once students and staff were confirmed to be safe, officers say the school lifted the lockdown.
The agency says it has no reason to believe there is any credible threat to the school.
Madison County Schools also shared the following statement regarding the incident Thursday:
This follows a reported threat made toward Mayfield Middle School Thursday morning, which resulted in an 11-year-old male being charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.
