New Year’s Day started off busy for local law enforcement
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Within hours of the calendar changing over to 2019, local law enforcement officers found themselves hurrying from one call to the next with the search for missing teen, the shooting of a Bowling Green woman and a chase through the city’s streets.
For Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower it was a busy start for his first official day on the job and a reminder of the importance of teamwork among agencies.
“I just wanted to come out and kind of get a feel for the different level of activity we were experiencing on New Year’s Eve, and meeting with a lot of the patrol deputies as they were out running from call to call,” Hightower said.
From 12:21 a.m. Dec. 31 through 7:45 a.m. Jan. 1, 24 people were booked into the Warren County Regional Jail.
Two of those people were involved in a police pursuit that ended on West 13th St. The driver in that chase is accused of more than 20 felonies. The passenger was also jailed on multiple charges.
Hightower was thankful for the assistance from Kentucky State Police and the Bowling Green Police Department in brining an end to the pursuit.
At BGPD, officers arrested a Bowling Green man who is accused of shooting his ex-wife in a hospital parking lot and multiple officers from a variety of agencies made drug and domestic violence-related arrests. The missing teen was found safe.
