New private school in Bowling Green aims to bring faith-based learning to Plano

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new private school is preparing to welcome students in the Plano community next week. Bluegrass Farms Christian Academy, founded by Mary Jackson and her husband, will officially open its doors on August 6th, offering classes for kindergarten through sixth grade.

The school is the latest step in the Jacksons’ growing mission to serve local families.

“In the spring of last year, my husband and I opened up a daycare, and very quickly we got full,” Jackson said. “We noticed the need in the community… and we just felt the Lord put it on us to keep growing.”

While it becomes the eighth private school in Bowling Green, Jackson says what makes Bluegrass Farms unique is its small-group approach. The entire student body—estimated to be around 15 to 20 children—will learn together in a single classroom. This, she said, allows for more individualized instruction.

“It’s going to give a lot of one-on-one time for our teacher to really perform to each individual student,” she said. “With smaller class sizes, it’s just more individualized learning. That’s what we hope to bring to the community.”

The school will follow a faith-based curriculum, specifically using the Baptist-oriented Abeka program. But academics are just one part of the school’s vision. Bluegrass Farms also plans to focus on hands-on life skills.

“We have plans to teach the kids how to bake bread and jam, learn how to fix things. We have a lot of life skills planned,” Jackson said.

Though the school is non-denominational, faith remains central to its mission.

“We just plan to offer a safe place for kids,” Jackson said. “With the changing world and times constantly, [we want] to offer a safe, Christian environment that parents can bring their kids and know that they’re going to get a quality education with the faith background—and know that their kids are safe.”

Bluegrass Farms Christian Academy is located at 2896 Plano Road and opens next Wednesday.
