New pet pantry opens in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, KY.- The pet pantry is officially open for any Logan County resident

Logan County Animal Care and Control is partnering with Champion Pet Foods, Tractor Supply, and other companies give the community the chance to provide dog food consistently.

Director Aric Tousignant says, “People are very thankful for being able to come and get this food and be able to help the pets that, you know, you know, and a lot of the people in the community are great people. Right. And to the point where they’re like, I feed my animals before I feed myself.”

With a pet pantry, many families will be able to meet the needs of their pets and their families.

“You know, meeting those needs of the community. And we see, you know, food pantries for people. Right. And so that’s what came to my mind is, you know, we have some other things going on. You know, there is other great rescues in other great non-profits that do great things for the pets. Right. So we just wanted to add to that,” said Aric Tousignant.

Stocking the shelves full of free dog food that typically goes for at least 40 dollars can lighten the financial load for any pet owner.

“There’s days that that are struggles but then the days to see the people’s faces, you know, with the pantry being able to help them, you know, and just have the relief of that off their plate of being able to now know that their dogs will be fed and now they can look at helping feed themselves,” said Tousignant.

The food pantry is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.

Residents are required to present a valid ID or a piece of mail to confirm Logan County residency.
