New partnership to bring high speed internet to rural Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky.- A new partnership between two electric companies will soon provide high-speed internet to residents in rural Simpson County.

Franklin EPB and Warren RECC are collaborating on the initiative. According to a news release, Warren RECC will lease dark fiber along its new fiber-optic communications backbone to Franklin EPB fiber. Franklin EPB will offer up to a gigabit internet service to Warren RECC members in the pilot area.

The pilot area includes approximately 350 Warren RECC members in northeast Simpson County, as well as a small group of members on the southeast side of Franklin.

Sign-ups begin on October 15, with installation expected to occur before the end of the year.

The release goes on to say that if the pilot program is successful, the companies will expand their partnership.
