New partnership opens door to Girl Scouts at Parker-Bennett-Curry

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As Sarah Smalling stood dressed like Girl Scout founder Juliette Low, 28 girls took the oath and became inducted into Girl Scouts Tuesday at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School.

A partnership between Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, Girls with Pearls and the Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green resulted in an in-school Girl Scout troop at Parker-Bennett-Curry in a population of girls where transportation is often a barrier to participation in scouting, Girl Scout seasonal recruitment specialist Felicia Bland said.

The girls celebrated the 107 birthday of Girl Scouts with Girl Scout cookie-flavored cupcakes and cake. Smalling handed out a strand of pearls to each girl.
