New National Corvette Museum Collections Facility opens for tours on Jan. 13
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The National Corvette Museum is opening its new Collections Facility for public tours starting Jan. 13.
According to the museum, tickets will be available by Dec. 1. Tour availability will be limited, and guests must purchase all tickets in advance, organizers say.
The museum says each ticket also includes self-guided admission to the National Corvette Museum, with both experiences to be used the same day.
The new, 66,000-square-foot facility expands the museum’s capacity for vehicle preservation, artifact conservation, secure storage and education, the museum says. It’s designed to accommodate more than 200 Corvettes, according to organizers.
During the guided tour, organizers say guests will see a behind-the-scenes look at how the museum preserves and cares for Corvette history. The tour will take visitors through vehicle preservation and restoration spaces while offering the opportunity to see Corvettes from every generation, the museum says.
Guests will also get a look at a broader collection, from production and performance Corvettes to vehicles connected to design, racing, innovation and American culture.
“From day one, this expansion project is about creating a sustainable future for preserving the full story of Corvette,” said Bryce Burklow, president and CEO of the National Corvette Museum. “We’re safeguarding our collection to protect and celebrate the design breakthroughs, engineering milestones, and incredible donor stories that make Corvette an icon and the National Corvette Museum home to Corvette history. And soon, our guests will be able to experience that process in a whole new way.”
Guests should be aware of several parts of the tour, including extended periods of standing and walking. In addition, the museum says rollators, electric scooters and strollers are not permitted. Canes and wheelchair are permitted, and complimentary wheelchairs are available upon request, organizers say.
Children must remain closely supervised, the museum says.
All tickets must be purchased in advance on the museum’s website. Tickets will not be sold at the Collections Facility.
