New exhibit honoring Korean War veterans opens in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center in Glasgow continues to celebrate our veterans.

A new exhibit featuring the men and women who served during the Korean War opened with a special event on Saturday, April 27.

The service of six veterans representing Allen, Barren, Hart Metcalfe and Monroe counties was featured, sometimes by their own words from written accounts.

A couple of the honorees attended the event in person, while others were represented by family.

Alia Brown, the daughter of a honored veteran, says, “I was young when all this was going on. Matter of fact, part of it I wasn’t even born. But it’s good to know what they went through and what they were fighting for. He’d be smiling from ear to ear. Probably wouldn’t say much, but he’d be smiling from ear to ear.”

If you missed this event, the exhibit featuring even more of the area’s veterans will continue at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center into July.
