New driver’s licenses to be issued next Wednesday in Hart County

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky.- Hart County residents will be among the first in Kentucky to receive new driver’s licenses.

The Hart County Circuit Court Clerk will begin issuing the new Kentucky licenses on Wednesday, July 10 from 8 a.m-4 p.m.

According to Hart County Circuit Court Clerk Kayla Rountree, the office will be closed on Tuesday so new equipment can be installed.

Kentucky drivers can choose between two options. One is a standard driver’s license. The other is a “voluntary travel ID” that complies with new federal travel rules.

Both allow Kentuckians to drive, vote and apply for federal benefits, but if you are planning to fly domestically or enter a military base or federal facility, you must purchase the travel ID.
