New developments at July 15th City Commission meeting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the Bowling Green City Commission meeting, some notable things for the future were discussed.

The first of those is the approval of an agreement with Help the Helpers, LLC to provide a mental health and resiliency wellness program for the fire and police departments, which Commissioner Carlos Bailey says is a great thing to have.

“Sometimes, it helps to just decompress and be able to talk it out and get it out sometimes helps that individual out, so this is a great grant to have,” Bailey says.

Another important item is the purchase of a home on Cave Mill Road to continue the city’s plan to help the stormwater process.

“We think this is a good candidate for more stormwater capacity with the holding tanks… holding areas for the water, and so I ask for your approval to purchase this property: 1112 Cave Mill Road,” City Manager Jeff Meisel says.

Finally, the city is working with the Public Works department to do some electrical work at a landfill site they own in Butler County.

“We’re needing to add more electricity to my understanding. So the state recently awarded a contract to this consulting… GAI consulting engineers for this final phase… and they are proposing this solution of the more electric overhead from our electrical work to replace some broken, buried electric lines,” Meisel says.
