New building for Glasgow Christian Academy set to open in time for classes starting on August 20th

GLASGOW, Ky. – If you grew up in Glasgow before the year 2006, the name “Happy Valley Elementary School” might sound familiar to you. Well, the former building was later the Glasgow Preschool Academy, and will now be the brand new home for the Glasgow Christian Academy Warriors.

“We were blessed that a door opened up with additional people that were helping us with the board and so when the opportunity came that the building was available, we proceeded to be in talks with the owners and we’ve negotiated and we’re set to go,” GCA board member & parent Chris Curry says.

The school has been in operation since 1990 and recently made their home at Calvary Baptist Church on Columbia Avenue near Glasgow High School.

“We’re very excited. We’ve been in Calvary Baptist for six years and they’re very nice to have us there for that long… and it was very nice, but it’s nice to have your own building in your own classrooms for sure,” Sarah Bryant, a 10th grader at GCA, says.

With changes coming to a new building, the students wanted to help out and make the school look as great as possible.

Bryant says it’s very rewarding to help with her school, and 9th grader Carli Dile agrees:

“Yeah, we’re very grateful to be able to help out with everything,” she says.

Curry says this is a great alternative for parents and students in the community as well.

“{It} kind of maintains that community feel, with so much rich history in Glasgow and being still a part of the community, it’s still education… but this is education, I won’t say with a twist, but education with a biblical worldview. In a society where we’re a little morally challenged or I say greatly morally challenged and so provides a good alternative for parents that want to try a different type of school for their children,” he says.
