New art gallery to open at Trojan Academy

BARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Dr. Barat Mody, a retired surgeon, philanthropist and artist, is embarking on a remarkable venture with the Trojan Academy to open a unique art gallery in Barren County.

This gallery will showcase an eclectic collection of art from across the globe, reflecting Mody’s extensive travels and experiences.

He says, “What was instilled in us by our parents, our siblings, my in-laws back in India, we brought that with us here, but still, we wanted to explore the world.”

The gallery aims to bridge cultural gaps by presenting art from diverse regions.

“From India, Cuba, Africa and even Australia,” Mody explains, “I am essentially bringing the world into the Barren County community.”

His mission is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of global cultures, emphasizing the importance of connecting with one another in an increasingly interconnected world.

The gallery is in its final stages of preparation, with Mody’s top priority being to share the discoveries he has made throughout his travels. Yet, despite his global focus, his love for his community remains steadfast.

“We all have the desire to make a difference for things around us,” he says. “At the same time, I have one foot in India and one foot in Glasgow. We feel fortunate that we belong to two communities.”
