New Americans in Bowling Green celebrated at graduation ceremony
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- There were pomp and circumstance on Friday for the 27 new Americans involved in the city’s Academy for new Americans.
The city hosted a graduation ceremony at the Sloan Convention Center for the new Americans.
The 27 students represent the largest academy class to date.
They hail from 15 different countries, speaking 21 different languages.
In order to successfully complete the program, participants had to commit to attending at least four of the five sessions, which began in February.
Those sessions included information on multiple topics, including, government, volunteerism and law enforcement.
