Nelson County woman sentenced on child sexual exploitation offenses

NELSON COUNTY, Ky. – A Nelson County woman has been sentenced on child sexual exploitation offenses.
According to a release by the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, 27-year-old Kathleen Flener was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in federal prison.
Flener was sentenced on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of distribution of child pornography, according to the release.
Following her term in prison, the release states Flener will be under 30 years of supervised release.
In addition, the release states Flener has been ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution total, with $3,000 going to each victim.
Flener used an online social media application to distribute two sexually explicit images of minor victims to an adult male living in Australia, according to the release.
There is no parole in the federal system.
This case was investigated by HSI with assistance from the Kentucky State Police.
