National Weather Service confirms 2 tornadoes

WARREN COUNTY/LOGAN COUNTY/TODD COUNTY, Ky. – National Weather Service Louisville and National Weather Service Paducah have confirmed at least two tornadoes touched down Saturday, impacting Warren, Logan and Todd counties in Kentucky.

According to NWS Louisville, preliminary damage survey results released on Sunday show the following for Bowling Green and Warren County:

  • Date: Dec. 9.
  • Time: 3:07 – 3:13 p.m.
  • EF Rating: EF-1.
  • Estimated peak winds: 90 mph.
  • Start location: Three Springs.
  • End location: Greenwood.
  • Path length: 2.24 miles.
  • Max width: 125 yards.
  • Injuries/deaths: 0.

In Logan County, NWS Louisville stated an EF-2 with winds reaching up to 115 mph caused damage in the area. As of Sunday afternoon, NWS Louisville stated the survey was still ongoing.

In Todd County, NWS Paducah stated the area experienced an EF-2 tornado with estimated peak winds of 125 mph.

NWS Paducah stated the storm moved from Clarksville, Tennessee into southern Todd County around 2 p.m. before moving into Logan County.

According to NWS Nashville, Clarksville was struck by an EF-3 tornado with estimated peak winds of 150 mph and a total path 43 miles long from Tennessee to Kentucky.
