National Prescription Drug Take Back taking place in Warren County on Oct. 28

BOWLING GREEN Ky. -The Bowling Green Police Department, the Warren County Sherriff Office, Kentucky State Police and Smiths Grove Police Department are taking part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back program run by the Drug Enforcement Agency.

This is meant to help people properly and safely dispose of their unneeded or expired prescription drugs and bring the 24-hour drop boxes to their attention.

Drug Task Force Director Tommy Loving says that it is not only medications containing opiates that they are looking for and that a wide variety of drugs are accepted for disposal regardless of their scheduled status.

“We usually take in several pounds of prescription drugs between the four sides, but also in Bowling Green, we have a 24 seven drop box available in front of Bowling Green PD. Another one in front of the Kentucky State Police Post on Nashville Road and one here at the sheriff’s office,” Loving said.

Though the event technically takes place at from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as Loving said the boxes at multiple locations in Warren County are open 24 hours a day.
