National Corvette Museum honoring military veterans in November
The National Corvette Museum is honoring those who serve and have served our country.
November is Military Appreciation Month at the National Corvette Museum.
“It is America’s sports car and it does represent the greatness of America and the greatness of Americans.” says Wendell Strode.
Wendell Strode, is not only the Executive Director at the National Corvette Museum, he is also a proud Vietnam Veteran.
“In my infantry company in Vietnam, we had 84-people that were killed and we owe something to them for their ultimate sacrifice and for us to be able to have the freedoms, the many privileges, and opportunities that we have now.” adds Strode.
To celebrate Military Appreciation Month, Strode and the National Corvette Museum want to honor all American military veterans, police officers, firefighters and their immediate family members by offering free admission for the entire month of November.
“Because of the respect that we have individually, as a museum, and as America’s sports car for our veterans and then we have expanded it to include all of our first responders. It’s just a way of saying thanks for what you do.” adds Strode.
This is just one of the many ways the Museum has honored veterans for the past 24-years.
“They sacrifice a lot. A lot of long, hard hours. A lot of things that they have seen in their life, that we only see on TV. To be able to give back with just a little bit of joy and enjoyment for their families, it’s very rewarding to us. We love being able to see them walk through our doors.” says Katie Ellison, the Marketing & Communications Manager for the National Corvette Museum.
Military veterans and first responders just need to show proof of service at the ticket desk. The National Corvette Museum is also hosting their annual ‘Vets ‘N Vettes’ event on Thursday, November 8th.
