Murray man indicted for theft of mail matter

PADUCAH, Ky. – A Calloway County man has been indicted on a charge of theft of mail matter.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, an indictment states Austin L. Jones, 34, was charged with theft of mail matter.
Officials say on or about December 18, 2024, Jones stole mail matter from mailboxes belonging to residences in Calloway County.
The release states was indictment was returned on March 11.
If convicted, Jones faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
There is no parole in the federal system.
This case is being investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, Bowling Green Office and the Murray Police Department.
