Movie theaters are open once again
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Welcome back movie goers. The theaters are finally open once again.
Locally, after more than five months, the big screen is back and more socially distanced than ever.
Frequent movie goers like Lynn Peaks, are thrilled.
“I am pumped stoked and ready. I love having the theaters open,” said Peaks.
Even though the theaters are welcoming guests once again, there are rules and safety guidelines just like everywhere else, according to Danny Steelman, another movie goer.
“[I’m] not scared to come. They have been really good about sanitizing and keeping it clean, so I haven’t been scared yet. This is my second movie since they’ve opened,” said Steelman.
These safety procedures for the local Regal theaters include sanitization foggers between movies, new social distancing protocols and, of course, a mandatory mask policy for Regal employees and guests.
When asked about the future of movie theaters following the pandemic’s impacts, movie goers say popcorn, candy and soda in front of the big screen can’t be replaced.
“It’s probably an age thing. Younger people are more used to watching things on their phones whereas people like me love coming to the movies. The big screen is nice,” said Steelman.
“It’s just not the same as getting to have your popcorn, your big soda and just thoroughly sitting back and relaxing because your phone rings when you’re at home or the buzzer goes off on the dryer so, it’s a little different,” said Peeks.
Some new titles are coming to the big screen in the coming weeks like Unhinged, Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow.
