Movie magic arrives in Glasgow: Town take center stage of BET Christmas romance sequel
GLASGOW, Ky. – Movie magic is coming to Downtown Glasgow!
Film crews are flying in from across the world to Barren County to film the sequel to BET Network film “A Royal Surprise”.
Glasgow Tourism Executive Director MacLean Lessenberry said, “We truly are the epitome of Southern hospitality and we are loving having a total ball explaining all of our Southern quirks to the South African producers and some of the cast and directors.”
Producer Chevonne O’Shaughnessy said, “I have never seen a town so sweet, so helpful, who go out of the way to do anything they can. It just makes the whole experience so amazing.”
“Everyone wants to jump in and help us, which is amazing,” agreed fellow Producer Billy Dunndee. “The judge jumps in. The mayor jumps in. All the shop owners. It’s just amazing people.”
Unlike the first movie which was filmed in South Africa, “A Royal Christmas Surprise” stars Downtown Glasgow as its main setting.
Producers tell us the film will use the Barren County Courthouse as the backdrop of the movie’s Christmas Marketplace.
Amazingly enough, Glasgow’s magnetism towards the film industry doesn’t stop here.
“We actually have another [film crew] coming in at the end of the month that we’re super excited about,” shared Lessenberry. “We had one back in October and we’re hoping to keep the momentum rolling. We’re thankful that Kentucky brought back that tax incentive so that we’re able to help market and get more people here in Glasgow.
