Motivational speaker Kate Garnes to appear at Barren County Middle School

GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County Middle School welcomes a national motivational speaker on Monday.
Author, DJ, choreographer, and podcast host, Kate Garnes, will speak with Barren County middle school students about mental health.
Kate’s mission is to “help teens find their worth and value when nobody shows up to tell them they are worthy or valuable.”
The event aims to raise awareness of student mental health. September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Month.
Garnes’ speaking appearance is part of the school’s programs to increase knowledge about mental health resources.
The event is sponsored by Graves Gilbert Clinic in collaboration with the Barren County Middle School Youth Service Center.
“We can’t overemphasize the importance of equipping students with the knowledge and coping skills which are critical to good mental health. Our goal in bringing Garnes to the middle school is to empower students to advocate for themselves and take ownership of their life journey. We are thankful for the support of Graves Gilbert; they are a wonderful community partner,” commented Lorie Ryan, BCMS Youth Service Center Coordinator.
