Mother-daughter duo team up to run Simply Chic Boutique
GLASGOW, Ky. – For over a decade, Kallie Bishop and Lisa Bellamy have poured their hearts into Simply Chic Boutique, a fashion-forward business rooted in family, style, and community.
Spending 50 to 60 hours a week together, the mother-daughter duo has learned to balance their vastly different styles while building a space that welcomes all generations. Their goal has been clear: to create more than just a clothing store.
“We handpick everything that’s in the store,” Bellamy says. “We want it to be a place where a grandmother, mother, and daughter can all find something they love.
For Bishop, the emotional bond with customers runs deep.
“I never expected to love someone that’s not my family like I do my customers,” she says. “Their hearts just unload on you.” Whether it’s a laugh, a hug or even a tough day, the store is a space where real life happens.
Bellamy adds, “We try to be professional, but we’re still mother and daughter—sometimes that shows.” Through arguments, challenges like COVID, and moments of joy, their relationship continues to evolve.
“Really, just be patient,” Bishop says. “She’s living her first life too.”
And as Bellamy watches her daughter grow into a confident leader, she sees reflections of herself: “If I weren’t here, she could run this place no problem—wow.”
